About this work
This American café painting captures an old hippie lost in thought at a Woodstock, New York bar. Inspired by a photo from a road trip through Upstate New York, Maikel imbues the scene with impressionistic charm. With his signature color palette and contrasts, the artwork comes to life under the striking afternoon light. Using the impasto technique for most parts, Maikel contrasts it with smooth strokes for the window, adding depth to the composition.
